New Content in Minecraft: Dried Ghast, Ghastling and Happy Ghast

The Summer 2025 update will bring several exciting additions available to players in Minecraft. One of the most thrilling features will be new mobs and blocks, including the Dried Ghast, Ghastling, and Happy Ghast, as well as new items like the harness and spawn egg for the Happy Ghast. All of these changes will be available after the update is released.

Dried Ghast: A Block from the Nether

The Dried Ghast is a new decorative block found in the Soul Sand Valley biome. It represents fossilized remains of a ghast and is part of fossil generation in the Nether. It can be mined with a pickaxe and always drops whole. Additionally, the Dried Ghast can be crafted using 5 bone blocks and 4 ghast tears.

When exposed to water, the Dried Ghast begins to regenerate: it slowly "comes to life" and transforms into a Ghastling after 20 minutes. Green particles appear around the block during the restoration process.

Ghastling: A Mob That Grows Before Your Eyes

Ghastling is a passive flying mob that appears when water is applied to a Dried Ghast. It does not attack players and bonds to the nearest player, following them.

Ghastling Behavior

• Spawn: Appears 20 minutes after the Dried Ghast is exposed to water.

• Behavior: Follows the player it bonds to. Growth can be accelerated by feeding it snowballs.

Over time, the Ghastling grows into a Happy Ghast.

Happy Ghast: Friendly Transportation

The Happy Ghast is the adult form of a Ghastling. Unlike regular ghasts, it is non-hostile, does not shoot fireballs, and can be used as a means of transport. It can carry up to four players at once.

Happy Ghast Features

• Spawn: Evolves from a Ghastling as it grows.

• Behavior: Doesn't attack, acts like a solid block players can stand and build on.

• Attraction: Follows players holding snowballs.

To ride the Happy Ghast, players need a special item — the harness.

Harness: Equipment for the Happy Ghast

The harness is an item needed to ride the Happy Ghast. It's crafted from 3 leather, 2 glass panes, and 1 wool block. There are 16 color variants depending on the wool used.

Harness Usage

• Crafting: 3 leather + 2 glass panes + 1 colored wool.

• Usage: Allows players to ride the Happy Ghast. The ghast will wear aviator glasses, hiding its eyes.
